How to purchase my ticket for AICO?

Online reservations for AICO - Architecture International Congress at Oporto ended on August 27.

However if you wish to attend AICO and did not book your seat online, you can purchase a ticket at the Oporto Alfândega Congress Center, from August 30, at 10.00am.

Students: 120 €
Architects: 200 €

NOTE: Payment available in the form of ATM.

AICO Tickets

Tickets for "AICO - Architecture International Congress at Oporto" will be available on August 30, starting at 9:00 a.m., at Oporto Alfândega Congress Centre.

IMPORTANT: To pick up your ticket you are required to present an identification card and, if you are a student, a document that proves such status.

Who is... GUEDES + DECAMPOS?



GUEDES + DECAMPOS (pt)
Guedes + DeCampos is the office established in Porto in 1994 by Cristina Guedes (Macao, 1964) and Francisco Vieira de Campos (Porto, 1962). Graduated at FAUP, Cristina Guedes did her internship with Alvaro Siza Vieira and Francisco Campos with Eduardo Souto Moura. Both teach in the Department of Architecture at Lusíada University of Porto. They were invited teachers to the semester final critics at Academmia di Mendrisio (2007) and ETH-Zurich (2008). Among their built works are included the Café do Cais ,in Oporto (1994), the FBAUP Workshop Pavilion (1996), terrace Bars on the waterfront of Vila Nova de Gaia (1999 and 2008), two Industrial Units for car components in the Autoeuropa complex in Plamela (2004 and 2006) and the Quinta do Vallado Winesellar (2008-2010). Much of the office’s work is the result the participation in competitions, having recently won the Contemporary Arts Center of the Azores - islands (2007), co-authored by João Mendes Ribeiro, the Vila Nova de Gaia Historical Zone’s Cable Car ( 2007), the Rehabilitation of the Fortress of Nossa Senhora da Luz, Cascais (2004), Fitting of Townscape Spaces of Contumil and Pius XII social housing district, Porto (2004), the Prégaia Headquarters, Gaia (2001 ), the Freixo School of Archaeology, Marco de Canavezes (2001). Alongside, the office has received orders as the Recovery and Expansion of Buildings for Housing in Miragaia, Porto (2003), the Casa da Boavista, Porto (2003), the Casa do Loivo, Vila Nova de Cerveira (2002). Cristina Guedes and Francisco de Campos have numerous works published in Portugal and abroad and participation in national and international exhibitions such as "Influx" (2003), "Metaflux - 9th International Biennial of Architecture in Venice" (2004), "V Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura ", in Montevideo (2006)," Architecture Biennale in São Paulo "(2007)," Architecture Triennale of Lisbon (2007), and "Portugal Now - New York (2007). They have also been lecturers at institutions and universities, nationally and internationally. Selected for the Secil Prize for Architecture in 2006 and 2009, FAD Prize 2002 and Mies Van Der Rohe Award 2009.

As explicit in the AICO Award Competition Rules
the competing projects must be delivered at JOFEBAR facilities or mailed through postal services under registered mail and notice of reception, which will be valid as proof of delivery.

Timing Summary:

a) Projects delivery date - from July 30 to August 16, 2010;
b) Winners announcement - August 30, 2010;
c) Awards delivery and Presentation of the Winning Project at AICO - September 4, 2010.

Who is... NUNO BRANDÃO COSTA?



NUNO BRANDÃO COSTA (pt)
Nuno Brandao Costa, Architecture degree at FAUP in 1994, where he teaches as Assistant Professor of Design since April 1999. He worked with Herzog & de Meuron in Switzerland and José Fernando Gonçalves & Paulo Providência in Oporto. In 1998, due to the 1st prize of the competition for the project to the Central Library of Social Sciences and Humanities Faculty from the New University of Lisbon and the 2nd Prize for the Project of the Portuguese Embassy in Berlin, he established his own office in Oporto. His works alternates from public and domestic scale and some projects that stand out are the Central Library of Social Sciences and Humanities Faculty from the New University of Lisbon, New Building to the Faculty of Arts, University of Porto, Sports Building for and E- Learning at the University of Porto, Multi-purpose Building to Medical Sciences Faculty, from Lisbon University, “Caminha” New City Library, “Sidónio Pais” Museum House in “Caminha” and " Viriato furniture” building. Has designed and built several of single-family houses, standing out " Afife House", "Lourosa House", " Francelos House", "Avenida da Boavista house", " Macinhata House " among others. It has also developed some recovery works, like the "Bouços” farm, a house in “Areias de Vilar” and a house in “Arga de Cima”.

Who is... JONATHAN WOOLF?



JONATHAN WOOLF ARCHITECTS (uk)
Jonathan Woolf was born in London and educated at Kingston School of Architecture before apprenticing at practices in Rome and later in London, where he was project architect for the house of art collector Charles Saatchi. In 1991 he established his own practice Jonathan Woolf Architects, an RIBA certified and award winning practice working throughout UK, Africa and Europe. Professional appointments include: Unit Master, Architectural Association, London, 1995-8, Diploma Design Studio, University of Bath, UK, 1995-7, Visiting Critic London Metropolitan University, Architectural Association, Bath University, Bartlett UCL, 1997-2003, Part-time Professor of Architecture at Robert Gordon University, Scotland, 2003-2007, Guest Professor at the l'Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio, Switzerland, 2007-2009.
